About the role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of Lyra's Mexico business entity. This critical role reports directly to senior management and requires close collaboration with directors, senior managers, and the broader finance team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a strong understanding of local accounting principles and tax regulations.

Location: This full-time position will require you to work 3 days per week from our office in Colonia Nápoles, Ciudad de México.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily accounting operations of the Mexico Accounting Team.
  • Develop, implement, interpret, and monitor all accounting policies and processes.
  • Oversee sensitive financial operations, including dividend payments, tax payments, and authorization of bank transactions.
  • Manage revenue accounting records, including revenue reconciliations (invoicing and collections), and reconcile bank statements to accounting books.
  • Supervise customer collections, supplier invoicing, payments to suppliers, and manage provisions (e.g., depreciation, bank interest, bank fees).
  • Review payroll invoices and withholdings (IMSS, ISR).
  • Prepare and file monthly tax returns on the SAT portal and local tax returns with the Secretariat of Finance (Mexico City).
  • Report salary cancellations and modifications to the IMSS.
  • Ensure accurate capture of appropriate lines for tax payments to SAT, the Secretariat of Finance, and IMSS.
  • Manage other tax obligations, including informative tax returns, electronic accounting, and SAT notices.
  • Present and review monthly financial results with accounting and operational management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a business-related field.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak fluently) is required.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years managing a small team of clerks/accountants.
  • Proven experience working with a U.S. or Europe-based multinational company.
  • Prior experience in Managing Accounting in the LATAM region preferred.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset with a focus on innovation and process optimization.
  • Excellent management and delegation skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise accounting systems.
  • Experience with banking platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of Mexican Income Tax and VAT Laws.
  • Expertise in Mexican e-invoicing requirements.
  • Experience with foreign currency transactions.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound business acumen.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and professionalism.
  • Proactive, independent, and able to perform effectively under pressure.
