About the Role
Lyra is looking for a Sr. Clinical Researcher to help us evaluate the effectiveness and impact of Lyra’s various mental health and well-being services using clinical research. You would serve as a subject matter expert on the state of clinical practice and research in mental health to internal stakeholders, including clinical product, data science, and marketing teams. You would help generate ideas for novel research, leveraging clinical outcome measures and product utilization data. You would conduct statistical analyses and contribute to write-ups of research efforts, including submitting to peer-reviewed publications as an author or co-author. You would support broader efforts around science communication for external non-science partners, such as customers, benefits consultants, and the broader workforce well-being community.

You will be a member of a highly skilled, fun, efficient, and collaborative team with an established track record for conducting, evaluating, and publishing peer-reviewed research on clinical outcomes for Lyra’s programs. In this role, you will work closely with other clinical researchers, health economists, psychologists, and data scientists. By evaluating clinical programs that reach millions of clients, your work will help create meaningful positive change on a large scale. Your work will also directly impact the broader field of digital mental health by setting an industry standard for excellence in clinical research.

Responsibilities

  • Develop research ideas, generate proposals, assess feasibility of ideas, and execute on research ideas to generate research products, including peer-reviewed papers
  • Conduct analyses using different databases with utilization and clinical outcomes data
  • Inform clinical product development, including the selection of patient-reported outcome measures and other metrics of usability, feasibility, and effectiveness
  • Serve as subject matter expert on mental health, workforce well–being and the value of Lyra’s services for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring communications reflect the state of the science 
  • Stay up to date on current research literature and analytical methods in digital mental health, clinical research, and workforce well-being.
  • Conduct literature reviews to meet the needs of cross-functional team members, generating summary documents to communicate results and recommendations

Qualifications

  • PhD in clinical psychology, health services/outcomes research, mental health, or closely related field (e.g., behavioral science, implementation science) that focuses on strong pragmatic research methods and statistics within mental health. 
  • 5+ years post-PhD experience required, with at least some non-academic industry experience 
  • Experience executing research studies with a variety of study designs and data types, including retrospective data, longitudinal designs, cohort studies, and other pragmatic research designs
  • Experience as primary lead on long-term research projects from start to finish with multiple collaborators and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Extensive experience publishing on clinical outcomes research, including 10+ peer-reviewed publications (5+ as first author)
  • Excellent scientific and non-scientific verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated through independent composition or presentation of research briefs, conference proceedings, webinars, blogs, or white papers
  • Expert knowledge of clinical outcome measures, including patient reported outcomes like the PHQ-9 or GAD-7
  • Ability to generate datasets using queries, conduct statistical analyses, and maintain documentation using common statistical languages (e.g., R, SQL, Python) and platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Github, Jupyter notebooks)
  • High comfort with technology, and a willingness to learn new tech tools
  • Openness to exploring new ideas and learning quickly in new areas  
  • Flexibility to respond to constant change, feedback, and improvement in a fast-paced environment
  • Compassionate, with the ability to approach collaborations with an open mind, in a non-judgmental and flexible way, and a willingness to communicate transparently with others and listen for their input and perspective

As a full-time Sr. Clinical Researcher, you will be employed by Lyra Health, Inc. The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $119,000-$183,000. The base range is determined by role and level, and placement within the range will depend on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to your skills, qualifications, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.

  • Ability to generate datasets using queries, conduct statistical analyses, and maintain documentation using common statistical languages (e.g., R, SQL, Python) and platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Github, Jupyter notebooks)
  • High comfort with technology, and a willingness to learn new tech tools
  • Openness to exploring new ideas and learning quickly in new areas  
  • Flexibility to respond to constant change, feedback, and improvement in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical psychologist or other mental health care provider with a history of engaging in patient care
  • Interest in and/or experience with the integration of AI into mental health care
As a full-time Sr. Clinical Researcher, you will be employed by Lyra Health, Inc. The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $119,000-$183,000. The base range is determined by role and level, and placement within the range will depend on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to your skills, qualifications, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
