Remote, USAJob Description
About Lyra Health
Lyra is transforming mental health care through technology with a human touch to help people feel emotionally healthy at work and at home. We work with industry leaders, such as Morgan Stanley, Uber, Amgen, and other Fortune 500 companies, to improve access to effective, high-quality mental health care for their employees and their families. With our innovative digital care platform and global provider network, nearly 20 million people can receive the best care and feel better, faster. Founded by David Ebersman, former CFO of Facebook and Genentech, Lyra has raised more than $900 million.
About the Role:
Lyra Health is seeking an exceptional Staff Product Designer to reimagine how millions of people engage with mental health care. This is a unique opportunity for a designer who is passionate about crafting member-facing experiences that are highly conversational, intelligent, and discovery-oriented—helping people confidently navigate their mental health journey.
As a Staff Product Designer, you will lead design strategy and execution across highly complex, cross-functional initiatives that shape Lyra’s next-generation consumer experience. You’ll be a key driver of our vision to infuse AI throughout Lyra’s UX, advancing conversational and personalized pathways to care and mental fitness. You’ll seamlessly move between systems thinking and pixel-perfect details, connecting micro-interactions to the broader service ecosystem.
In this role, you’ll work in deep partnership with cross-functional teams, senior executives, and external partners to elevate Lyra’s design excellence and bring transformative solutions to life.
This role can be full-time in our Burlingame, CA headquarters, OR virtual (remote candidates must be based in the United States).
Responsibilities
- Own and lead end-to-end design initiatives for highly visible, high-impact member experiences—from initial discovery through production.
- Shape Lyra’s consumer-facing UX to be conversational, AI-integrated, and seamlessly navigable across multiple platforms.
- Independently drive complex, cross-functional projects in collaboration with senior leaders, product, engineering, clinical, and go-to-market teams.
- Bring a service design mindset, connecting individual touchpoints to the holistic care journey.
- Lead AI-informed experience design: partner with product and engineering to imagine and implement intelligent, assistive, and personalized solutions.
- Elevate both interaction and visual design craft across the team, setting a high bar for execution and design thinking.
- Influence product direction with strong storytelling, data-informed insights, and a sharp understanding of user and customer needs.
- Navigate ambiguity, balancing speed and strategic depth; know when to experiment quickly vs. when to architect for long-term scalability.
- Serve as a trusted partner to executives and actively shape design culture and processes across Lyra.
- Contribute to and evolve Lyra’s design system to support cohesive, scalable member experiences.
- Mentor other designers and help elevate team capabilities in both design quality and cross-functional leadership.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in product design with a focus on consumer-facing experiences across web, iOS, and Android.
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive strategic, cross-functional initiatives from vision through execution.
- Mastery of both interaction and visual design craft, with a strong systems thinking approach.
- Experience designing for complex service ecosystems and multi-platform user journeys.
- Proven track record of successfully shipping consumer-facing products with high UX impact and strong business outcomes.
- Experience integrating AI, personalization, or intelligent systems into consumer products is highly preferred.
- Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end product design process, from research through visual design, with an emphasis on problem-solving at multiple altitudes (micro and macro).
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and storytelling skills with an ability to influence at all levels, including senior executives.
- Deeply collaborative with a proactive, independent working style.
- Experience shaping or contributing to robust design systems at scale.
- Passion for improving access to mental health care and building empathetic, human-centered solutions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
- Comfortable with rapid changes in direction to determine the most optimal path forward
- Portfolio of UX-focused work samples for web and mobile applications
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, HCI, or equivalent practical experience
